Abstract
1,144,274. Pile driving. LANDSVERK A.B. 11 July, 1967 [12 July, 1966], No. 31865/67. Heading EIH. An arrangement for periodically lifting and dropping a hammer to drive in a pile comprises a pad 7, a hammer 13 for driving in the pile 19 by dropping onto the pad, a cable 17 fixedly secured at 18 and extending around a first pulley 16 movable with the pad and around a second pulley 15 movable with the hammer, the pulley 16 during use of the arrangement being positioned above the pulley 15, and actuating means 20 secured to the other end of the cable 17 and operable alternately to tension and slacken the cable to raise and drop the hammer. In the embodiments described the pad 7 and pulley 16 are secured together by guides 8, 9 for guiding the movement of the hammer. Guides 5 guide the pad and pulley 16 during this movement.
