Abstract
1,144,034. Electric motors. K-K-TOKAI RIKA DENKI SEISAKUSHO. 25 April, 1967, No. 19012/67. Heading H2A. The rotor 6 of a small synchronous motor is made of low inertia for easy starting by providing it with teeth 6<SP>1</SP>, but placing the polarizing magnet 9 on the stator so that the teeth work in the space between the magnet and the field coil 3. The surface of the magnet is polarized with twice as many poles as there are rotor teeth, and these teeth are of triangular shape so that they distribute the coil-flux evenly over the surface of the magnet. When the motor is de-energized, each rotor pole-tooth lies between two magnet poles, thus facilitating instant starting at the first magnetization half-cycle. A salient pole-ring 10 facing the ends of the rotor pole-teeth, serves to reduce leakage and concentrate the fields from the magnet and field coil for more effective interaction. The magnet is of barium ferrite. The motor may be of planar form (Fig. 8, not shown).
