Abstract

1,142,232. Sights for guns. OLIN MATHIESON CHEMICAL CORP. 10 Aug., 1966 [25 Aug., 1965], No. 35779/66. Heading F3C. A ventilated sight rib for a gun comprises a plurality of posts projection welded to the barrel of the gun in longitudinal alignment, each post being provided with an upwardly extending dovetail-shaped projection 4. A rib 7 having a groove of dovetail shaped cross-section in its underside is mounted on the posts and transverse openings 11 are provided passing through the rib and the projections 4, each opening 11 housing a pin 10 to prevent relative movement between the rib and the posts. The posts may be of powder metal and the rib may be formed on its upper surface with serrations to cut down reflections from the rib to the shooter's eye. The rib may be also provided with a middle sight 13 and a foresight (Fig. 4, not shown).
