[Also in Division A1] A box for an animal comprises an outer shell 1 folded-up from a cardboard blank to have side walls 3, an end wall 4, overlapping bottom flaps 5 secured by tongues &c. 8, 9, overlapping end flaps 4A, short inner top flaps 7, 7A and narrow outer top flaps 6, the shell containing a tray 2 with shallow side and end edges 12, 13 and a deep end edge 14 positioned adjacent the end flaps 4A. The bottom of the tray 2 is of wire mesh. The gap between the top flaps 6 &c. together with holes 10 through the side and end walls 3, 4 provide ventilation. The tongues &c. 8, 9 may be gummed &c. or provided with multiple interengaging hooks. The tray 2 may be coated with polyethylene. In use, the tray 2 is filled with sawdust for the animal's convenience, and is inserted into the shell 1 either through the top flaps 6 or, when the box is for a small animal, through the end opposite the wall 4. In this small form, the end flaps 4A may be omitted, the deep end edge 14 of the tray 2 sufficing to retain the animal. Animal feeding devices may be provided within the box.
