Abstract

1,141,474. Switch contacts. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 1 June, 1966 [21 June, 1965], No. 24343/66. Heading H1N. A composite contact has an annular rim 17 of low conductivity, e.g. copper or silver, and a core of higher resistance, low friction material, e.g. graphite, silver/graphite mixture or conductive molybdenum disulphide, the ratio of the area of the core to the rim being in the range of 10: 1 to 1: 3. The use of the contact as an electromagnetically operated abutting contact, and as a fixed sliding contact co-operating with contact segments in a rotating timing disc, are described (Figs. 4, 5, not shown).
