Abstract

114,141. Walker, J. B. March 12, 1917. [Convention date]. C a s t i n g processes; flasks; moulds. - Ingot moulds and like hollow castings are annealed after casting by removing a collapsible metal core-bar and expansible flask, leaving the casting to cool slowly in the sand core and mould. After casting, the core bar is collapsed, and the flask 11, with mould 22, casting 20, and core 21 is lifted away. The clamps 15 are then removed, allowing the flask 11 which is made in two parts hinged at 12, to expand slightly and be lifted away from the mould. Preferably the core bar and flask are of the type described in Specifications 114,142 and 112,616.
