Abstract

1,140,262. Photographic dye bleach-out process. KEUFFEL & ESSER CO. May 12, 1966 May 13, 1965], No.21143/66. Heading G2C. A photographic dye bleach-out material having a layer containing a light-bleachable coloured dye is imagewise exposed to light at an elevated temperature to increase the bleaching rate. The layer may also contain, as bleaching accelerators, halogenated hydrocarbons such as carbon tetrachloride and carbon tetrabromide, and polymers such as cellulose acetate, polyvinyl butyral, acrylic resin, nitrocellulose and polyvinyl chlorideacetate. A number of light-bleachable cyanine and merocyanine dyes are specified. Elevated temperatures mentioned range from 41‹- 90‹ C. Examples are given, and include a reflex exposure to infrared and light in a thermographic machine in which exposure the bleaching is accelerated in the heated image areas to give a negative image.
