Abstract
1,140,002. Sewing machine. MITE CORP. 6 March, 1967 [31 May, 1966], No. 10523/67. Heading D1G. A throat plate for incapacitating the feed dogs comprises movable parts adapted to rest on the feed dogs and to rise and fall therewith, said parts having smooth bottom surfaces upon which the feed dogs may readily slide and smooth top surfaces upon which the work fabric may readily move. A plate 54, corresponding in shape to the original throat plate, is secured to the underside of the replacement, and larger throat plate 40. Plates 40 and 54 are formed with a needle-passing slot 52, and plate 40 is formed with slots 62 affording access to means 64 for fastening plate 54. Plate 40 is formed with long slots 58 in alignment with the feed dogs 44. Leaf springs 42, disposed in slots 58 with their ends 48 freely abutting the underside of plate 40, are provided on their' undersides with wear blocks 50 which fit closely into slots 56 formed in plate 54. The feed dogs operate in slots 56 to engage and slide over the smooth bottom surfaces of blocks 50, and thereby also to raise the smooth top surfaces of springs 42 periodically above plate 40.
