Abstract

1,139,783. Etching. CONVERSION CHEMICAL CORP. 8 Aug., 1967 [26 Sept., 1966], No. 36285/67. Heading B6J. For etching ferrous metals, an etchant provided as a powder composition for addition to water comprises 80-95% by weight of urea nitrate and 20-5% of an acidic compound, being a dry acid such as boric acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, succinic acid, amalic acid or gluconic acid delta-lactone, or an acidic tartrate or sulphate of an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonia, or boric acid mixed with ammonium acetate. There may also be added 0.5-5% of a powdering agent such as calcium silicate, and surfactants.
