Abstract

1,139,226. Antistatic synthetic resin compositions. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 31 Oct., 1966 [4 Nov., 1965], No. 48621/66. Headings C3B and C3P. A synthetic resinous material having antistatic properties is prepared by incorporating in a synthetic resin from 0À1 to 3% by weight, based on the weight of the resin, of an antistatic agent, and from 0À1 to 3% by weight, based on the weight of the resin, of finely divided silica gel particles having micropores of 20 to 80 Š effective diameter in accordance with the measurement of B.E.T. absorption isotherms system. In the examples, the resins used were polystyrene, vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer (containing dibutyl tin dilaurate as stabilizer), polypropylene, low density polyethylene, acrylonitrile - butadiene - styrene copolymer, polymethylmethacrylate, polyvinyl chloride and an epoxy resin (containing triethylene tetramine as curing agent). The antistatic agents used are laurylamide-propyltrimethylammonium methyl sulphate, stearamidoethyl dimethyl -# - hydroxyethylammonium chloride, a commercial agent of formula polyoxyethylene alkylamine, dilauryl phosphoric acid triethanolamine salt, dimethyl tetrapolyoxyethylene-glycol disilane, polyoxyethylene alkylphenol ether, an imidazoline type agent of formula where R is a C 12-18 alkyl radical and a cationic agent of formula
