1478412 Heat and sound insulative coatings BASF AG 15 Oct 1974 [16 Oct 1973] 44669/74 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] An heat-insulating, adhesive, sealing or filling composition comprises an aqeous filmforming resin dispersion having a synthetic resin content of from 40 to 60% by weight, the particle size of the synthetic resin in the dispersion being from 0.03 to 20 microns, the dispersion having dispersed therein foamed granules of thermoplastic or thermosetting resins in an amount of 1 to 25 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the film-forming aqueous dispersion, said foamed granules being homopolymers or copolymers and having a mean diameter of 0.1 to 12.0 mm and a bulk density of 5 to 300 g/l. In Example 1, an iron cold-water pipe is coated with a mixture of chalk, talc, titanium dioxide and closed-cell polystyrene foam impregnated with polyacrylic acid which mixture had been added to an aqueous dispersion of a copolymer of ethylacrylate/methyl methacrylate/N-(#-methacrylamidoethyl)-N, N'-ethylene urea emulsified with an ethylene oxide adduct of a fatty alcohol to which dispersion polyisobutylene had been added.
