Abstract

1,139,216. Respirator for use in Toxic Atmospheres. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. 8 July, 1966 [21 July, 1965], No. 31121/65. Heading A5T. A respirator is illustrated with reference to the drawing and comprises a resilient facepiece 1 adapted to form a gas-tight seal with the face of the wearer, a port 16 mounted in sad face-piece, said port having a sealing member 28 movable on to and off a seating to form a non-return valve allowing egress of exhaled air to the surrounding atmosphere, a chamber 18 mounted on the exterior of the respirator, said chamber covering said port and having peripheral outlet ports 33, 34 to the atmosphere facing said sealing member, a dome 19 mounted over said sealing member and having peripheral ports 20 to 27 in said dome, and an inwardly directed annular shielding wall 31 located between said outlet ports and said ports in said dome.
