Abstract
1,139,011. Tunnel kilns. SOC. GENERALE DE FONDERIE. 9 March, 1966 [10 March, 1965], No. 10422/66. Heading F4B. [Also in Division B3] Sand and resin are blown into a core-box in a machine 1 to form a core or core part for casting iron radiators and, to improve cohesion, the core, e.g. of assembled parts, is sprayed with water from sprayers (1a, 1b) before being placed on a core box 2, on rails (3, 4) and pushed into a sectioned and adjustable tunnel kiln 5 by a jack 12, and through the kiln on further, offset, rails by following core-boxes. In the first section 6a, the boxes 2 are heated from below by radiation from propane burners 11 and in subsequent sections 6b-6d the cores are cured by heat transferred from the boxes to the cores they contain, assembled parts being bonded together in the process. The draught created by a chimney 14 removes vapours and assists cooling in a last kiln section 6e. The core-boxes 2 are returned to the core-blowing machine 1 by a roller conveyer (15).
