Abstract
1,138,075. Acetal peroxides. HENTSCHKE & SAWATZKI, and K. GABELEIN. 19 Jan., 1966 [22 Jan., 1965], No. 2429/66. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Acetal peroxides are prepared by reacting an ethylenically unsaturated aliphatic or alicyclic compound which is free of halogen atoms, amino or sulphide groups, with ozone in the presence of a primary, secondary or tertiary alcohol containing at least 5 carbon atoms the carbon chain of which may be interrupted by oxygen. The unsaturated compound may be a hydrocarbon, alcohol, aldehyde, ketone or carboxylic acid. It is preferred to effect ozonolysis at temperatures below 70‹ C. These acetal peroxides are more stable than those obtained from lower alcohols. Examples relate to the preparation of derivatives of sorbic acid, castor oil, olive oil, cedar wood oil and oleyl alcohol, and polyethylene glycol ether, dodecanol, polyoxyethylene, stearyl alcohol, iso-tridecyl-2-ol and benzyl alcohol.
