Abstract

1,137,834. Gas: filter. D. A. G. MARSHALL. 16 Dec., 1966 [16 Nov., 1965], No. 48557/65. Addition to 1,105,306. Heading B1T. In a gas filter comprising a filtering mat 14 bonded to a peripheral steel frame 10 by a thermoplastic-coating 12, the mat comprises polyvinylidine chloride in the form of a random mat having one face bonded discontinuously or a single or multi-ply mat of woven fibres. In manufacture, the heated frame is dipped in polyethylene, polypropylene or cellulose acetate-butyrate powder, which melts thereon, and the mat is attached by pressing. Polyvinylidine chloride and the discontinuous bonding medium are non- inflammable.
