Abstract

1,031,570. Filters. PALL CORPORATION. Dec. 3,1963 [Dec. 3,1962], No. 47810/63. Heading B1D. In a cylindrical corrugated filter element formed from one or more sheets of filter material the seam or seams are formed by lapping together the outer surfaces of adjacent sheet portions in face to face relationship with a self-sustaining ribbon 14<SP>1</SP> of bonding material therebetween. The filter sheets may be paper impregnated with a synthetic resin or fibres, or textile fabrics and the bonding material a synthetic resin or a cellulose derivative. Heat and/or pressure applied through platens 17 may be used to bond the ribbon of bonding material to the two surfaces. One, or several layers of sheet material of the same or varying porosity, can be employed in juxtaposition.
