Abstract
1,137,772. Electric discharge tubes. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. 28 March, 1966 [23 April, 1965], No. 13608/66. Heading H1D In an electron tube comprising a round tubular cathode 16 having a longitudinally extending bulge 22, the bulge 22 is arranged by means of a tab 24 to be adjacent an inactive portion of the grid. As shown, the grid is of the " formed round " type with a lateral wire helix 30 wound around and between side rods 26, 28 and has inactive portions adjacent the side rods 26, 28 and active portions adjacent the arcuate central portions 31 of the wire helix. Tab 24 is affixed to the cathode at a predetermined angle to the bulge, which may be a lock seam, so that during manufacture the tab may be set at this predetermined angle to the inactive portion of the grid, thus correctly aligning the bulge with respect to the grid. The tab may be welded to the cathode or formed integrally with it.
