Abstract

1,137,191. Cylinders. STEEL CONSTRUCTION & ENG. CO. (NOTTS.) Ltd. 27 Nov., 1967 [16 Jan., 1967], No. 2129/67. Heading F2T. An endplate 2 is secured to an hydraulic cylinder 1 by means comprising a flange 11 on the endplate located in a counterbore 3 in the cylinder and a thrust ring 17 which is formed of at least three segments and is held in a groove 5 in the counterbore by a locking ring 20 secured, as by screws 26, between the ring 17 and the unflanged portion 10 of the endplate, the ring 17 extending from the groove 5 to overlap part of the outer face 15 of the flange 11. The contact faces 18, 19 and 21, 13 between the ring 20 and the ring 17 and the portion 10 respectively are coned to provide a wedging action and the flange 11 is sealed to the cylinder by a sealing ring 7. The outer ends of the holes 24 for the screws 26 are enlarged and tapped for screws to facilitate removal of the locking ring 20 and radial holes 8 are provided in the cylinder for ejector pins (9, Fig. 2, not shown) for pushing the segments of the ring 17 out of the groove 5 when ring 20 has been removed. The endplate has a flanged bush 28 and a seal 31 for the piston rod (not shown).
