Abstract
1,135,327. Emulsifier composition. ELECTROFLOR Inc. 4 July, 1966, No. 29880/66. Heading C5D. [Also in Division B1] A water-soluble emulsifier composition comrises (a) a normally liquid glycol ether in a volume concentration of 1 to 25%, (b) a normally liquid ethoxylated alkylphenol having an ethylene oxide content of 7 to 15 mols. ethylene oxide per mol. of alkylphenol and being present in a volume concentration of 0.5 to 25%, (c) a second normally liquid ethoxylated alkylphenol having an ethylene oxide content of 0 to 5 mols. ethylene oxide per mol. of alkylphenol and being present in a volume concentration within the approximate range of 0À5 to 10%, and (d) an oily waterinsoluble extender solvent, the composition being adapted to tolerate in clear solution the addition of water in excess of 1% by volume, the ratio of concentrations of components (b) and (c) being 1 : 1 to 50 : 1. Specified extenders are various mineral oils and sulphonated mineral oils, e.g. sodium petroleum sulphonate, and the composition may also contain a dye or a fluorescent tracer sensitizer and may be used in penetrant inspection processes for detecting cracks or faults in metal or ceramic materials (see Division B1).
