Abstract
1,135,191. Electric cut-outs. SHIH WOO LOU. 20 Jan., 1966 [20 Jan., 1965], No. 2491/65. Addition to 1,055,665. Heading H2G. [Also in Division H1] A shunt device incorporated in an Edison socket in a set of series-connected decorative lamps comprises a cylindrical metal shell A in electrical contact with the socket F, an aluminium disc B with a surface coating of aluminium oxide, a dished metal disc E mounted in fibre rings C, and a silver-coated lead ball D movable between, and in contact with, the discs B and E. The disc E is engaged by the centre base contact of a lamp bulb screwed into the socket, and has an extension E 4 which passes through a slot H in the side of the socket and has a lead soldered thereto. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), the device is located outside the socket and is soldered to legs (T) depending from the socket base. In an alternative construction the device is mounted inside an electric lamp bulb.
