Abstract

1,134,196. Colour photographic materials. EASTMAN KODAK CO. April 6, 1966 [April 12, 1965], No.15325/66. Heading G2C. A colour photographic material comprises a paper support carrying a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a colour coupler, there being an inorganic substance incorporated in the paper, or a layer containing an inorganic substance coated on the paper before the emulsion layer, wherein the nature and quantity of the inorganic substance is such that not more than 25% of the total U.V. between 360mÁ and 400mÁ is reflected. The support may also have a reflectance of less than 10% for the range 350- 380mÁ, and above 60% for 420-500mÁ Specified inorganic substances are TiO 2 and ZnO, which may be in the form of a pigment of average particle size 0À5- 5Á. and may be coated at 50mg- 3g/sq.ft. The inorganic substance may be incorporated into a layer of gelatine, a polyolefin, a cellulose ester, a polyvinyl acetal or hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate. Polyethylene layers may be electron-bombarded as in Specification 971, 058. Various colour couplers are specified and the emulsion layer may also contain sensitizing dyes, chemical sensitizers, antifoggants, hardeners, dispersing agents for the colour couplers, and antistain agents. The material may carry three light-sensitive layers each sensitized to aprimary colour and containing the complementary colourcoupler. The emulsion layers may be packetemulsion layers.
