Abstract

1,134,014. Hydrocracking. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd. 14 Dec., 1966 [20 Dec., 1965], No. 53783/65. Heading C5E. Hydrocarbons having a n-paraffin chain in their structure are selectively cracked by contacting the feedstock containing said hydrocarbons and other hydrocarbons at elevated temperature and pressure and in the presence of hydrogen with a catalyst comprising a hydrogenating component selected from metals, or oxides thereof, of Group VI or Group VIII of the Periodic Table incorporated with a decationized crystalline mordenite having a silica: alumina ratio of at least 14 : 1. Preferred hydrogenating components are platinum or palladium or mixtures of Group VI and VIII metals, or oxides thereof, e.g. Co and Mo used in amount 0À01-10% by wt. The temperature may be 232-510‹ C. and the pressure 250- 3000 p.s.i.g.
