Abstract

1,264,545. Zeolite catalyst. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd. 30 Jan., 1970 [21 Feb., 1969], No. 9493/69. Heading B1E. [Also in Divisions C1 and C5] A mordenite type zeolite having empirical (0.1-0.8 NiO or) formula 1 Œ0.2Na 2 O:Al 2 O 3 :(0.05-0.4 Cr 2 O 3 ): 9-15 SiO 2 . 0.7 H 2 O and in which chromium or nickel are in non-exchangeable form provides a catalyst for use in hydrocarbon conversion processes. The said zeolite may be decationised to reduce Na<SP>+</SP> content to below 1% and may also contain in exchangeable form metals from Grp VIII of the periodic table (Mendeleef), such as Platinum or Palladium, to enhance the catalytic properties. Hydrocarbon conversion reactions catalysed by the above zeolite include hydrocracking, dealkylation, hydrogenation and dehydrogenation isomerisation, disproportionation, and selective cracking of n-paraffins in mixtures. For the method of preparation of the zeolites see Division C1.
