Abstract

In a separator for separating particles of powder according to size, air and powder particles are fed through a pipe 4 into a drum I in which bars 6, 6' are radially mounted on rotary spindles 8, 8' in such a manner that the bars on one spindle are axially displaced from the bars on the other spindle and that during rotation part of the paths of movement of the bars on one spindle overlap part of the paths of movement of the bars on the other spindle. The spindles rotate in opposite directions and the powder particles are struck by the bars so that the coarse particles are projected against the walls of the drum 1 and fall down by gravity towards a discharge outlet 3 while the fine particles, which are not so affected by the impact of the bars, are carried upwardly in the air towards a discharge pipe 2. Hot air is fed in at 5 for drying the powder particles.
