Abstract

113,212. Gibson, J. G. Carew- Jane 7, 1917. Cutters. - A wire-cutter for military and general purposes, comprises a pair of cutting- levers D, D' pivoted together at G, and having pivotal connexion at L with a pair of operating- levers A pivoted at B to side plates J whereby a double toggle-lever device is provided for the cutting action. The pivot bolt G of the cutters D, D<1> passes through slots H in the side plates J to permit of the movement of the bolts B, which pivot the levers A to the side plates J. Each lever A preferably comprises two pieces of sheet metal spaced apart as shown to embrace the cutters, and brought together at the handle end. Hand grips M are slotted to receive the plates A and are secured thereon by rivets 0, holes P being provided for attachment of a lanyard. Washers J<2>, J<3> interposed between the cutters and the plates J act as stops to limit the closing movement of the hand-levers A.
