Abstract

1,131,779. Transporting explosive fluids. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 12 Sept., 1967 [14 Sept., 1966], No. 41654/67. Heading A5A. An explosive liquid such as nitroglycerine is conveyed from tanks 1, 2 to a place of use as an emulsion with an immiscible operant liquid of different density by a method in which tanks 1, 2 contain a separate layer of the operant liquid and a suction injector 5 is operated so that initially and finally operant liquid alone is withdrawn from the tanks, explosive liquid 'being withdrawn only in an intermediate stage, so that on initiating and stopping the injector 5, suction pipe 9 and the conveyor pipes contain no explosive liquid. The operant liquid is preferably water, and water which has already been used to convey the explosive liquid may be used to form the separate layer. The height of the inlet for suction pipe 9 in tank 1 is adjustable by means of jack 10. The suction pipe is of a flexible e.g. rubber or plastics material.
