Abstract

1,131,655. Continuous casting. MANNESMANN A.G. 22 June, 1966 [23 June, 1965], No. 27809/66. Heading B3F. In a continuous casting installation in which the casting, upon leaving the mould, passes through a cooling zone in which water is sprayed on to it, a pair of guide rolls are provided which have a plurality of circumferential grooves 3 which define, with the surface of the casting, passages through which the water sprayed on to the casting can flow away. The rolls are supported beneath the mould 1 in carrier members 7 which have intermediate rollsupporting arms 8. The rolls may be of one piece construction or formed by a plurality of roll sections.
