Abstract

1,130,627. Electrolytic capacitors. SIEMENS A.G. 29 July, 1966 [2 Aug., 1965 (2)], No. 34068/66. Heading H1M. In the manufacture of an electrolytic capacitor, an aluminium electrode, which has been chemically or electrochemically etched with e.g. a solution containing chloride ions, is washed with a solution containing hydrochloric, phosphoric or sulphuric acid e.g. a 0À5-5 N solution of hydrochloric acid, or a 0À1 molar solution of phosphoric acid. Washing is preferably carried out at 20‹ to 50‹ C. over 5 to 10 minutes. After washing the electrode may be rinsed with water but this is not essential particularly in the case of phosphoric acid.
