Abstract

1,130,478. Tumbling. H. OETIKER. 3 April, 1967 [16 April, 1966], No. 15160/67. Heading B3D. Apparatus for subjecting small articles to an abrasive finishing treatment in rotary drums comprises a vertical column 1, a substantially horizontal drum support 2 rotatably mounted at its centre on said column, at least two drums 6, 7 rotatably mounted on said horizontal about substantially vertical axes B-B located on diametrically opposite sides of said vertical column and means for rotating said horizontal support and said drums in rotational symmetry about their respective axes, and is characterized in that said horizontal support 2 is rotatably mounted on said vertical column 1 by means of a pair of axially spaced bearings 3, 3, and each of said drums is provided with an axial stub shaft 6a, 7a fixedly mounted in a sleeve 8, 9 rotatably mounted in said horizontal support by means of a pair of axially spaced bearings 4, 4, 5, 5, said horizontal support being rotatable on said vertical column by a motor 15 through suitable drive means and each of said drums being rotatable by means of a sprocket 12, 13 or pulley fixedly mounted on the sleeve in which the stub shaft of the drum is mounted, and between the axially spaced bearings of said sleeve, and connected by a chain 14 or belt with a sprocket 10, 11 fixedly mounted on said vertical column between the axially spaced bearings of said horizontal support.
