Abstract

1,129,007. Weighing apparatus. S.SUTCLIFFE. Sept. 11, 1967 [Sept.27, 1966], No.42978/66. Heading G1W. A weighing device comprises a substantially cylindrical load bearing member 15 supported by resilient means 10 on a substantially cylindrical support member 11, one of the members having an edge which co-operates with a scale on the other of the members to indicate the weight of a load mounted on the member 15. The resilient means may comprise (i) a body of rubber or plastics material, or (ii) a spring in the form of a helical spring or Belliville washers (26) Fig. 3, (not shown) arranged between the members, or (iii) a fluid medium in the form of a gas which is contained in the support member and acted upon by a piston connected to the bearing member. Additionally the resilient means may comprise a liquid. The scale may be in the form of a plurality of coloured bands 18 which may be located in parallel circumferential grooves of one of the members 11. The members may be closed at their remote ends and arranged to slide one within the other, a stepped portion 13 being optionally provided to limit relative movement of the members.
