Abstract

1,128,877. Suspended furnace roof structures. BABCOCK & WILCOX CO. 15 May, 1967 [19 May, 1966], No. 22421/67. Heading F4B. A hanger 12 for supporting bricks 10 in a furnace roof comprises a flat metal plate having a plurality of integral tooth-like projections 18 extending normally outwards from both sides of the plate, the projections being arranged in longitudinally spaced groups wherein each group includes two transverse series of projections. The hangers 12 are suspended from horizontal metal cross-bars 14 by metal hook support members 16 which are received in flanged holes 20 formed in the upper portion of each hanger 12. All joints between the bricks 10 are mortared. The angle of inclination which each transverse series of projections 18 makes with the longitudinal axis of the hanger 12 may be varied (see Figs. 3-5). A vertical slot may be provided between each group of projections.
