Abstract

[Also in Division F1] Two or more adjustable output pumps 1, 4 in respective circuits of an hydraulic transmission system, e.g. in an excavator, are controlled simultaneously by a spring-loaded stepped piston 7, or a plurality of pistons, having faces 10, 11 respectively subjected to the output pressures of the pumps 1, 4, i.e. the pressures in the pressure lines of the circuits, so that the sum of the output pressures controls the adjustment of the pumps. The piston step areas, or individual piston areas, correspond to the power consumption of the associated pumps, to prevent the maximum output of the power source, e.g. an I.C. engine, from being exceeded. The loading spring and leverage characteristics may also be related to the piston surface areas.
