A garage comprises a parking floor 2 and a parking platform 4, the latter having siderollers 5, 7 by which it is supported on fixed rails 9, 10 for movement between a parking position shown in full lines and a position shown in broken lines in which a vehicle can be driven on to or off the platform. The garage has an entrance 3 which is closable by an up and over or a roller-type shutter (not shown). The rails 9 are mounted on the side walls of the garage or fixed by supports on the ground. The platform 4 is moved by hydraulic rams 12 disposed inside the rails 10 which are of channel-shaped cross-section, the piston-rods 13 of the rams 12 being connected to a shaft 8, Fig. 2 (not shown), on which are mounted the rollers 7. When the platform 4 is in its parking position it operates a limit switch stopping an hydraulic drive for the rams 12. If the platform inadvertently drops from its parking position by leakage from the rams 12, the limit switch is released and the rams are automatically refilled.
