Abstract

1,128,347. Air cushion vehicles. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 31 Oct., 1966 [8 Oct., 1965], No. 42786/65. Heading B7K. A flexible skirt for an air cushion vehicle comprises a peripherally extending and inverted U-section member having side walls 12, 13 extending from a crown 14 with an undulating wall 15 located between and secured to the inner faces of walls 12 and 13. The enclosed cavity 11 is inflated by means, not shown, and apertures 18 in wall 12 enable air to be fed to a cushion space enclosed by the wall 12 and the bottom of a vehicle to which the skirt is attached, further apertures 19 in the crests of the undulating wall 15 allowing the discharge of air between walls 12 and 13 to form an air curtain.
