Abstract
1,119,562. Air cushion vehicles. SOC. BERTIN & CIE. 15 July, 1965 [23 July, 1964], No. 30146/65. Heading B7K. An air cushion vehicle is formed with a skirt which, at the sides of the vehicle, comprises a plurality of cushion compartments 2b-2-2a- 2b enclosed in part by a peripheral skirt 4, internal wall portions 54 and transverse panels 41, 51, 6, 52, 42 which are angled rearwardly to reduce their resistance to forward motion of the vehicle when in contact with waves or other obstructions. The portions 52, 42 are reinforced by further panels 53, 43 to form closed compartments that are inflated by air delivered at 3a, 3b. Other ports 3 supply air to form the individual cushions. In other embodiments the cushion compartment dividing walls are all made double-wall inflatable chambers, the walls of which are apertured to communicate with the cushion compartments.
