[Also in Division D2] A wet press having a pair of press rolls, an outer felt of liquid transferring material and an inner open cellular belt of liquid receiving material has means-for example a suction box or a blower box-for removing the liquid from the belt on the exit side of the nip before the belt reaches the first guide roll The paper web, felt, and belt are separated from one another at the exit of the nip. The belt may be of woven metal or a synthetic plastics construction.
