Abstract

1,127,037. Processing film strips. PENTACON DRESDEN KAMERA-UND KINOWERKE VEB. Sept.9, 1966, No.40388/66. Heading G2A. [Also in Division D1] A film strip 1 is carried round a guide roller 3 and has processing solution applied to it by a roller 5 which dips into a bath 4 of the solution. (The roller 5 may be a disc, so that the solution is applied to a narrow band only of the film, e.g. a sound track. ) Roller 5 is carried by an arm 7 on a pivot 6, and biased by a spring 10 so as to bear against the film strip. Arm 7 has an extension arm 7a which carries a roller 9 eccentrically mounted on arm 7a by pivot 8. In the normal operative position of Fig.1, roller 5 is drawn into contact with film strip 1, while roller 9 lies out of contact with the film. If two lengths of film are connected by a clip 11, which has a greater thickness than the film, the clip, as it passes roller 9, will engage it and rotate it. This causes arm 7, 7a to be pushed against the spring tension, and so roller 5 is drawn away from the film 1. Thus when clip 11 passes the application station, it does not come into contact with roller 5, and so cannot damage it Fig.2, (not shown). After the clip has passed on, roller 9 rotates further, and roller 5 is drawn back into the Fig.1 position again. In the modification of Fig. 3 (not shown), roller 9 has teeth 12 which engage in the perforations of the film strip. In the further modifications of Figs.4-6 (not shown), the roller 9 has a pin or lever which engages with the clip 11.
