[Also in Division G1] In apparatus for detecting or measuring fluid flow, two rough surfaced cylinders 9, 9<SP>1</SP>, mounted on crankshafts 12, 12<SP>1</SP>, are rotated in a nozzle 7 on an axis normal bath plan of fluid flow by a motor 31 driving pinions 32, 32<SP>1</SP> meshing with resiliently mounted stationary annuli 33, 33<SP>1</SP> and sun wheels 29, 29<SP>1</SP> and the value of the sum and difference in the torques exerted on the two cylinders 9, 9<SP>1</SP>, enables the mass flow rate, volumetric flow rate, density and dynamic pressure to be determined. The crankshafts 12, 12<SP>1</SP> are supported on air supplied through pipes 23 to bearings 22, 22<SP>1</SP> mounted on diaphragms 24, 24<SP>1</SP> and are held centrally by annular permanent magnets 25, 26 ; 25<SP>1</SP>; 26<SP>1</SP>; 27, 28 and 27<SP>1</SP>, 28<SP>1</SP>.
