In a liquid level indicator which will enable the static level of liquid, such as molten chocolate, to be ascertained while such liquid is in such a state of agitation that a steady reading cannot be read from a gauge glass which communicates with a container A above and below the liquid surface, a standpipe H is arranged externally of the container A and is connected to the bottom of the container A through a duct G. The upper end of the standpipe H is connected by a small lone tubing L to a Bourdon gauge M and by a valve N to a compressed air line so that when the valve N is opened liquid is expelled from the standpipe H and the reading on gauge M is proportional to the container A contents.
