Abstract

1,126,280. Endless conveyers. A. HOLL. 15 Aug., 1966 [13 Aug., 1965; 12 July, 1966], No. 36407/66. Heading B8A. [Also in Division C7] For the treatment of hollow bodies 18, a conveyer 2 transfers the bodies from an annealing station 3 to an internal lacquering station 4 and then to a furnace 5. The conveyer 2 comprises hollow rollers 6 mounted between endless chains, the rollers being rotatable by drive rollers (not shown). The bodies are trans. ferred, by air blast or mechanically, to further conveyers 16, 17 travelling in opposite directions, and are discharged at a shoot 19. The annealing station 3 comprises a series of burners 8 mounted on a carriage 7 such that the burner flames are movable in and out of the bodies 18. Further burners (not shown) which are fixed or movable horizontally, may be provided on the other side of the conveyer 2. The carriage 7 and the opposite burners may be vertically adjustable to allow for different size diameters of bodies. The lacquering station 4 includes a transversely movable carriage 10 which is vertically adjustable and which carries spray guns 11. The furnace 5 may be heated electrically, by gas or by oil. In place of the furnace, heating members mounted on a carriage, as for stations 3, 4, may be used. In a modification, Figs. 3-5 (not shown), the furnace (5) has transverse ventilation provided by an air duct (23) with outlets (24) directed towards the bodies (18). This air may be heated by a heater (25) and extraction is via a cowl (26) connected to a fan. For providing an air seal where the conveyer (2) passes into and out of the furnace, air supply ducts (29, 30) are arranged above the conveyer openings (5a, 5b). In addition to an electric panel heater (31), a heater (32, 33) provides heat for the thicker collar part of the bodies 18.
