Abstract

1,126,185. Automatic control of speed. MULLARD Ltd. May 6, 1966, No. 20148/66. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] The speed of a series motor 2, 3 supplied from an A. C. source 4 is controlled by variation of the firing angle of a thyratron or thyristor 1 in response to back e.m.f. which is increased to improve stability by energizing the field via a separate diode 12 during the whole of each half cycle that the thyristor conducts, thus increasing the residual magnetism. The thyristor is triggered when the forward voltage on diode 9 from speed control potentiometer 6 sufficiently exceeds the back e. m.f.
