Abstract
1,125,214. Reciprocating conveyers. VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE A.G. 6 July, 1967 [4 Aug., 1966], No. 31218/67. Heading B8A. Positioning means for heavy loads, e.g. sheet metal coils, received by a reciprocating conveyer, is controlled by a light beam device in combination with a further light beam device or with mechanical means. As shown, the positioning of a coil 1 at a receiving station I of a reciprocating conveyer is controlled by a first light beam device 20, 22 and by a second beam device 19, 21. Transmitter-receivers of the devices 19, 20 move in opposite directions. to and away from the leading and trailing ends of the coil 1, when a motor 30 is operated. If the coil has been received at a station I on a conveyer beam 2 with an error of +X relative to a plane of symmetry 18, initiation of a correction procedure, e.g. from a control desk, causes transmitter-receivers 19, 20 to move towards the coil. Device 19 first detects the coil and forward movement of the beam 2 is started. The device 20 next detects the forward end of the coil and the beam 2 is stopped, the coil being correctly positioned. A table 7 then lifts the coil and the beam 2 is returned to its initial position. The devices 19, 20 are next de-energized and are restored to their original positions after which, as a working conveying stroke of the bar 2 is initiated, the coil is lowered on to the bar and is moved, step by step, through intermediate stations III, IV to a delivery station II. When there is a position error of - X the coil is moved in a direction reversed from that for the + X error. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the coil is always deposited at the receiving station with a position error +X and the members (19, 21) are replaced by a stop (35) which is adjustable and coupled to the support for the member (20). In further constructions, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown), a fixed stop (40) is initially engaged by the coil and movement of the member (20) towards the coil is produced by correction movement of the beam (2).
