Abstract

1,125,136. Washing-machines. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 7 Dec., 1965 [9 Dec., 1964], No. 50126/64. Heading D1A. A washing machine is driven at low speed by an electric motor and is then intermittently accelerated by a separate motor or different poles on the same motor up to spin drying speed. After a period of intermittent acceleration spin drying speed is reached and the motor is continuously energised at high speed. During acceleration and spin drying a water extractor pump is continuously operated. The intermittent acceleration is provided by interruption of the electric supply to the motor by movable contacts.
