Abstract

870,558. Washing-machines. HOLZER, W. Dec. 17, 1958 [Dec. 17, 1957; July 4, 1958], No. 40640/58. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XXXVII] In a washing-machine in which a drive motor 17 is rotated in opposite directions for periods 10, 12 separated by intervals 11, means are provided for extending the intervals for periods 15 to produce a less vigorous washing action. As shown in Fig. 3 a cam-operated changeover contact 5 for reversing.the motor 17 can be.periodically rendered ineffective by a cam-operated contact 9 which is periodically opened and closed. The cams operating the contacts 5 and 9 may be driven by a single synchronous motor, the cam for contact 9 being driven through reduction gearing. Contact 9 can be short-circuited by a switch 20. The less vigorous washing action can be used during soaking or heating. In place of the contact 9 an additional cam disc may be provided to periodically displace the changeover contacts and render them inoperative.
