A waterproof radio receiver case comprises an open-fronted cabinet 10 containing the receiving apparatus and closed by a facade 30, there being a peripheral sealing gasket between cabinet 10 and facade 30 and contained in a channel 52, 54 in the facade, and the facade having an opening 120 for the acoustic output of the speaker 80, a waterproof membrane 102 extending across opening 120 and sealed to the facade around its perimeter by annular gaskets 104, 106. Membrane 120 is of thin sheet rubber or, for example, neoprene, held under little, if any, tension. The gaskets are made of resilient material such as rubber. The shaft (66) of each control knob is provided with hermetic sealing between itself and the facade through which it passes by means of an 0-ring (68) received in a circumferential groove (70) in the shaft and in sealing contact with the circumference of the corresponding bore in the facade (Fig. 5, not shown).
