1,124,194. Continuous casting. GOSUDARSTVENY SOJUZNY INSTITUT PROJEKTIROVANYA METALLOURGITCHESKIKH - ZAVODOV, and CENTRALNY NAOUTCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT TCHORNOY METALLOURGIY "I. P. SARDINE ". 19 Jan., 1967, No. 2940/67. Heading B3F. Guide sections 4, bearing rolls 5 for co-operation with rolls 3 of fixed sections 2 for guiding a cast strand 1 in a cooling zone, are adjustable by hydraulic jacks 8 to accommodate differentlysized strands. Sleeves 11 are rotated, by way of chains and sprockets 13, 13a, 20, by a motor 23 so that nuts 10 keyed inside them are thus rotated to move to a desired position on threads 9 on rods 6 of the jack pistons 7. This determines the spacing between the guide rolls 3 and 5 when the jacks are operated, since the pistons 7 can move towards the strand 1 only until the nuts 10 abut shoulders 17 on the jack cylinders as shown. By selsyn equipment 24, 26, the nut positions are indicated by a pointer 27 and the motor 23 is operated by remote control, e.g. stopped automatically by the receiver 26.
