Abstract

1,123,892. Spray canister. RHEINMETALL G.m.b.H. 5 May, 1966 [8 May, 1965], No. 19960/66. Heading F3A. A canister to simulate grenades, rockets and bombs filled with poison gas comprises a container 2 for holding a dispersible material simulating poison gas, a propellant charge 10a for expelling the canister from a discharge cup 1, an explosive charge 12b for bursting the container and spraying its contents, a combustion time fuze 11a for igniting the propellant, a combustion delay fuze 17b for subsequently igniting the explosive charge 12b in timed sequence, the container being made of a synthetic plastics material, e.g. polyethylene capable of disintegration into small harmless pieces and having circumferential ribs 4 which strengthen the container and also act as guide and sealing rings in the discharge cup. A further guide and sealing element is provided by the outer edge 7 of a dished base 3 having radial ribs 3a. The canister is suspended in the discharging cup from a shoulder 5. The dispersible material in the canister may consist of a neutral fluid and a dispersed colouring powder. A friction igniter 14 operated by a pull wire 14a is provided to ignite the fuze 11b.
