Abstract

112,383. Frokjar, N. June 26, 1917. Torpedo nets and screens.-Relates to ships' torpedo and mine guards of the kind comprising overlapping vertically arranged metal plates capable of being moved outwards from and drawn back towards the ship. Amidships, the plates 1 are supported on bars 2<a> carried by pivoted brackets 2, 10 capable of folding back on the side of the ship. Movable rudder plates 4, attached to the fore part of the screen, facilitate the outward and inward movement. From the bow and stern, the plates 5 are, preferably, pivotally mounted on fixed brackets 6 and pivotally connected at their outer edges by one or more bars 8 so that the plates can close up after the manner of a venetian blind, as indicated in dotted lines. The bars 8 are arranged so as to push away mines or other floating objects.
