Abstract

4234. McDougall, A., and McDougall, W. S. Oct. 25, 1912. Fenders. - To protect ship's life - boats during lowering operations, antifriction rollers are arranged on the sides of the boats so as to rotate on an horizontal axis. The rollers 1, directly mounted upon coachspring brackets 4 secured to the side of the boat 5 are used in combination with ordinary fenders 7, which absorb the shock after a certain depression of the springs.
