Abstract

1,123,814. Testing pipe joints. BRITISH CERAMIC RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. April 27, 1967 [April 30, 1966], No. 19101/66. Heading G1S. Apparatus for comparing the pressure tightness of a pipe-line with that of a control pipe comprises two tubes A, B connected respectively to the pipe-line and the control-pipe, a first manometer C 1 , C 2 connected to indicate the difference in pressure between the tubes A, B a second manometer E 1 ., E 2 connected to indicate the gauge pressure in the tube A, and a valve D having three ports two of which are connected to the tubes A, B, the valve being settable into a first position in which the three ports are mutually in-communication whereby the two tubes can be pressurized through the third port and into a second position in which the two ports are isolated from each other and from the third port. During the test the control pipe is subjected to the same conditions as the test pipe. After pressurization through pipe D, the connection between tubes A, B is closed such that any difference in pressure caused by a leak in the test pipe will show on manometer tubes C 1 , C 2 .
